Dear Campus School Families,
Last year we formed a faculty and staff diversity committee, and one of the most important things we did was offer committee members training and education around issues of privilege, inclusion, and community. This year we are extending this training to the entire faculty and staff, affording each person the opportunity to reflect both personally and professionally on the challenging but very necessary work related to diversity and inclusion. Our teachers and staff have embraced this training and we will offer more in the coming months and on a regular basis moving forward.
We are also collaborating with the PTO to offer parents opportunities for more intentional conversations about diversity and inclusion. We intend to make these a regular part of the annual PTO agenda and hope they provide a vehicle to further strengthen our community. In addition, last year a new parents of students of color group was created to provide an additional space for support and dialogue. Simply put, all of these efforts are important to our continued evolution as a school.
We strive to advance this work in ways that are true to our school mission and ethos. We will be focused on tangible and practical outcomes that will have positive effects on our students and school culture, which is why, ultimately, this work is so important.
Warmly,
Chris
